My favorite new restaurant in SF! Loved the casual/hip bright ambiance, and the food was delicious. I ordered the basil tofu and asked for it spicy, and they definitely delivered on the heat. IThe portion was sizable and really reasonably priced ($9). also had an interesting cocktail with ginger and chile and it was very flavorful. The service was friendly although the poor busboy serving food at the bar consistently got people's orders wrong so I think they need a better system for marking orders for those sitting at the bar.

I was really disappointed with the service and food in this restaurant! First of all, our waiter was incredibly rude, when we asked him what vegetarian options were available he proceeded to tell us his personal opinion on being unable to live without meat. Then when we saw a "vegetarian" section on the menu, it turns out that there is fish sauce and oyster sauce in all of those options. So anyway, we decided to order some sake, drunken noodles, and a tofu/vegetable dish. Our food came out exactly the opposite of what we ordered. The requested no spicy dish was super hot, and the requested noodles with no tofu, of course came out with tofu. This took them TWO tries to finally get the order right. Next, my sake ($5-7$ just for a shot glass) came out in a half a shot. I'm sorry most Thai places will give an entire mini bottle of sake for that price and fill your shot glass to the top. Finally, the food itself was incredibly average and I would say for San Francisco completely inadequate given how many great Thai restaurants there are. Will not come back here again. One credit I will give this restaurant is that they did take one dish off our bill for getting it wrong so many times.

House 530 was amazing! The food and customer service was GREAT! I love that it's family owned. We had the spring rolls, ahi tuna, and rice with dungeness crab. Everything was so delicious. The glasses they use for their drinks are so classy and trendy and their drinks are sooo good. I could go on and on about this place seriously... If you haven't checked this restaurant out yet you definitely should. I really can't wait to go back and try everything else on their menu! I'd also like to Thank Indie and Paul for making it an even better experience for us. You guys are great :)

Nice new restaurant that seems to adapt the Osha formula of swank and sophisticated decor... I feel like Thievery Corporation should be playing on the stereo here at all times. Had the prawns pasta, which was very delicious, and a 21st Amendment Back In Black to wash it down. My friend had a coconut chicken noodle soup, which was tasty was well.

I went there a few days ago with my friend for lunch, the waiter recommended banana blossom for us and it was super good. And for my main dish I ordered crab pad thai, the spice was perfect. The decoration is modern and clean the music is ok. Love the food and services. Definitely coming back.

Came here with friends last Friday. We all enjoyed it. Decor is nice, modern and clean. Would be a great place for a nice but still casual date. Not too loud like other restaurants in the Mission but not quiet. Service was good. Wait staff is very friendly. I really enjoyed the dishes I had. The duck larb, pork leg stew, and mussaman curry were the highlights for sure. - chicken crispy tacos - meat was flavored well and moist. went well with the the crunchy taco shells. - duck larb w sticky rice. delicious. love all the different spices and flavors. would definitely get this again. - crab pad thai - good - pork leg stew - my favorite dish! meat was so tender and flavorful. veggies complemented meat well. I left no piece of pork behind! - mussaman curry beef - delicious. loved this dish. Can't wait to go back.

The atmosphere at Thai House 530 was warm and welcoming, but the food and the service left a lot to be desired. We were seated quickly, but then it took about 15 minutes before our waiter arrived to take our order. We had the calamari, pumpkin curry and giant prawns. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, but the flavors were not. The calamari was way too greasy. The pumpkin curry was ok, but lacked flavor and intensity. The giant prawns were also bland and too greasy. For the price, I definitely won't be going back. There are many other Thai restaurants in the area that are a better value and a much better meal.

Very fresh ingredients, very flavorful. We had the spring rolls......beautful presentation as well. The coconut soup was amazing, fresh lemon grass flavor. Everything infused with fresh, tasty herbs......spearmint, basil, etc. Can't wait to go back.

Ok, I almost don't want to write another great review here so people don't catch on, but they deserve it! We had an early NYE dinner here and everything was fantastic. The space is modern, cool and squeeky clean, the service is firendly, helpful and fast, the food is delicious and not overly Americanized. We can't wait to return.

This new Thai fusion restaurant is really great! I ate here with some friends last week. Everything we ordered was really yummy- my favorites were the corncakes and the crab pad thai! The ambience is great too- I def recommend to any looking for a good place to eat in the Mission!

I was out for lunch with a colleague when we walked by and noticed this new (to me) Thai restaurant. I thought it would be fun to check it out. We ordered the lunch specials, which were AMAZING! For $12, I had some extremely delicious coconut milk soup, a crispy salad with yummy dressing, a tasty appetizer (Sleepy Shrimp) and a scrumptious main course (Pra Ram with Beef). I ate every single morsel of food on my plate, it was that good. And what a great lunch deal! I left feeling happy, full, and ready to tackle the afternoon. The service was fantastic: prompt and friendly. The food came out quickly. The ambiance was very nice: clean, bright, and a fresh decor with a cool open kitchen and a nice flow to the restaurant. I will definitely eat here again!

Just tried this place yesterday for lunch, and was happily surprised by the quality of the food, service, and decor. The exterior of Thai House 530 really stands out on Valencia for its chic, futuristic design. Inside, there was no pretentiousness to match. The lunch special ($12) is a great deal for coconut milk soup, salad, rice, choice of appetizer (some kind of crispy roll), and entree (a variety of vegetable and meat sauce-based dishes). Our waiter was friendly and patient as a companion changed their mind a few times. I also recall it being very nicely lit inside, but it may have just been a sunny day. This requires further investigation.

Terrible, forgot apps, forgot drinks. Brought us the wrong food and then tried to argue with us. The curry is flavorless. Also no tried to talk to us about how much they F'd up.

Yes give me more of everything please. Great ambience. Great cocktails. Excellent appetizers. Menu is big with lots of variety to select from. Delicious desserts. Highly recommend this excellent fusion restaurant.

Great food, great service, we got the combination platter, fresh spring rolls and I got the shrimp pad thai. the food was amazing. Very nice, quiet, fancy atmosphere. Great service. Had a blast with my friends on valentines day. the only thing i didn't like was they included tip and service fee for us. and that was around 15%. That was my only reason i gave them one 4 stars, or else this was awesome and you should check it out. Great food!

5 stars for clean clean clean. I walked by and immediately stopped and was in awe by how fresh and neat this place looked. The staff was so nice, our waitress was very attentive and extremely sweet. The food was great, I'm a big thai food fan and I will definitely be returning to this place

I'm kind of surprised by all the 5 star reviews...and I may give TH530 another chance, but I was not that impressed. I came for lunch....decor and service were good, but the food was okay. I had the pad gaprow on the lunch special, even though the waitress recommended the musaman curry. (Perhaps a mistake). The Tom kha soup was delicious ( and beautiful with the dots of red chili oil). Unfortunately, the pad gaprow, was just okay. It was kind of cold, and had virtually NO chili in it. Since chili is an important ingredient in this dish, even a mild version of this should have some chili in it. This was all ground meat, a little basil and red & green bell pepper. A real disappointment, I considered sending it back. But others seemed to have a good experience, so i might give it another try, but for me the food was just "okay"

Probably will do better to make a reservation here on a busy night. I joined two friends on a Thursday and it was pretty busy. I started out with a cocktail, the House 530, and it was alright.. I have a bias against drinks in tall glasses so maybe I'm not the most impartial judge. I split the veggie spring rolls - pretty standard, hard to really screw that up. Also, enjoyed the crab pad thai. It's definitely the best pad thai I've had in this city, though I haven't sampled much in SF. I liked that it wasn't too sweet and the big chunks of crab didn't hurt ;) The server was friendly, but seemed slightly overstretched. It took some time to flag down my chilli sauce :P

I love Thai House Express on Castro, so trying House 530 was a must. There are plenty of new offerings with its sleek white interior and open kitchen. I especially enjoyed the rib eye appetizer stuffed with green onions and even though it is a beer and wine restaurant they have a tasty faux margarita that is made from Agave wine. Had a great time last night. Good luck with the new House.

Great place! I have been living in Thailand for forty years and this place is just like eating at home in Bangkok. Had moo krop...fried pork belly with chinese brocolli was outstanding. Great atmosphere, great service. I will be back often EH

You gotta try the spicy ginger drink and the shrimp linguini! Paul is great. The bartenders are friendly and cool. It's a great place to bring someone you like. Especially when you realize it's just across the street from Good Vibrations. ha ha wink wink.

There is one word that comes into mind when thinking of my dining experience and it is "AMAZING"! It started from the great ambiance as I walked into the doors (great decorations and style) which then lead to great service (such nice servers) and ended with amazing food and amazing drinks (I suggest the Ginger Margarita-YUM). I would recommend anyone that is in San Francisco or even is just going to visit San Francisco make this one of your dining choices, you won't regret it.

Spotless interior, stylish decor. The service was decent at first, but then the waitress disappeared and didn't take our order beyond the appetizers. The one thing they were diligent about was refilling our water glasses. When we left, no one said thank you or goodbye, that's just a basic courtesy at any sit down restaurant. I was disappointed with the food. I thought the crab pad thai sounded so good, but it was just noodles, tiny bits of crab all mixed in (no chunks of crab), and the tomato based sauce. There were none of the other ingredients usually in pad thai- the egg, bean sprouts, scallions. We also had the papaya salad, it was very fresh but boring. I requested a spicy curry, and they sent "medium" spicy (which tasted mild), and the shrimp in it were terribly overcooked. I've had much more flavorful, tasty Thai food at several other restaurants.

Really solid Thai food. Great interior space. Never have to wait to be seated. The prices are great. My top pick in the neighborhood for Thai food now.

I was excited about trying this place when I spotted it a few weeks ago while shopping in that area. Then, last night showed up at around 6:45 and the place was pretty dead so I was suspicious. There was a large flatscreen TV above the bar which I thought was very tacky for a place trying to be upscale Thai. It just is not what you want to see when you first walk in (and for me, all through dinner). It looks like they spent a fortune on the decor but the large, fake ivy wall installations are just odd and really do not work. Anyway, so I was hopeful that at least the food would be good. As vegetarians you expect some good options especially in the Mission. We asked our waiter for suggestions and he recommended a green bean and tofu dish and a tofu with green curry. They were both pretty awful. The tofu was mush and the green beans were way under-cooked and flavorless. The curry sauce was the constincy of a soup and while the flavor was okay it did not make up for the god-awful tofu mush. Why is it that so few places can do tofu properly? Slanted Door (and Out the Door) had it figured out years ago. Nobody wants large chunks of mushy tofu! The appetizer fried vegetable rolls were okay and the waiter was nice enough. And we got a pretty good bottle of wine under $25. If they could fix some things (maybe spray paint that fake ivy?) and get the tofu and a few other things down they might survive. I doubt it though.

The food was outstanding, the first night the service was amazing, the second good. Best Thai food I have eaten. Great to have good wine with Thai food. This is not the norm, I would recommend to anyone. From a Canadian visitor. Thanks

Honestly I can't say enough about how much I love this place. Very nice ambiance, amazing food, and friendly staff. I've probably been here about 8 times and never had a bad experience. The Thai beef jerky is AMAZING.i could probably eat 2 orders to myself no problem. Also they are really accommodating. I like the pad see ew but I like silver noodles with it instead of the traditional flat noodles and they accommodate me every time. Also bonus points for bomb sangria!!! This is definitely my go to Thai place when I'm in the mission!

Great thai food in a clean restaurant with modern decor. I split the green curry with chicken and some sauteed shrimp (both spicy) with a friend & each were delicious! The service was also pretty quick. That's about it, highly recommend!

I'd heard good things about this place, and I love thai, so the Saturday before last some of us went for a pre-club chaos dinner. Reservations for six at six were easy, and we were seated right away. The interior was very hip-mission looking. The menu looked bigger than it actually was, as some things were repeated, and everything on there was pretty basic, nothing stood out. I had a dungeoness crab, egg, noodle dish which was good, thai iced tea that was good (but served in a too-tall glass!) and everyone else's food was good too. I've had a similar dish at Rin's in Noe Valley by my house and liked theirs better. The waiter was not bad, but we did have communication problems with him. Overall, we all agreed everything was fine, but with so many thai places in SF, nothing to make it stand out and make us go there again, especially with the also new Krua place right around the corner that three of us had gone to a few weeks previously that we enjoyed more, and especially since it was a slight bit pricey for what it was. I think if you're more into a bar, look at me restaurant scene type thing, this would be more your place.

3.5 stars, but if you order the right dishes, it can be bumped up to a 4. we really enjoy the pumpkin curry and the the dungeness crab pad thai.

My wife and I had a really nice lunch there with our 3 year old. Pineapple Fried Rice was the biggest surprise - interestingly delicious. I also had the yellow curry and rice my wife had a fish soup. Great flavors, nice staff - will come back.

I had a great experience dining at Thai House 530. The food was really well executed Thai. Nothing too adventurous here, but all the staples are there and very tasty. We ordered "extra spicy", which was hot but flavorful. The server was attentive and helpful. Great value here, and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

This restaurant is nothing short of amazing. We went there last night, and we will only be eating our Thai food here forever. The building itself is incredibly well thought out and modern. When you walk in the staff greets you, and you are able to find a wonderful spot to dine, with ease. I really love the added touch of having your own glass bottle of water at the table. It's nice to not have to worry when some one will fill your glass when you are dying of thirst. Also, I am allergic to fish, and the staff and chef were more than accommodating. I had the drunken noodles with no fish sauce, and they were the best noodles I have ever had in my life. The prices of this place are so cheap for how high quality the food is here! My drunken noodles with chicken and veggies ended up being only 9 dollars. That's only 4 dollars more than a small Jamba Juice for some excellent service, incredible interior and spectacular food. It's no wonder they have multiple zagat awards! My only fear is telling people about this place and having to wait in line next time we go!

    (5)
  • Josh B.

Eh. Overhyped. The green curry was very good, but the vegetarian dishes were just so-so. And it really bugs me when restaurants go for a "club" vibe. I'm here to eat and talk, not listen to loud, mediocre music. Go here if you want a trendy-looking place with decent Thai food. Don't go here if you want really good Thai food or a good place to talk with your dinner companions.

My friend and I went here last night for dinner, I was throughly impressed, the decor is great and the location is great as well. We started off with the tom kah soup which I really enjoyed, then we shared the crab pad thai and pumpkin curry with chicken, both were delicious and the portions were great as well, I have leftovers for lunch today! The cold sake was good as well. I will definitely be back!

The atmosphere at the latest Thai House is definitely trendy. The prices are a little more expensive, but fits in well with that area of Valencia Street. It has the same great Thai food as the other Thai Houses, but it's the actual location & space that set it apart right along with the better presentation of food. Sometimes it is packed, sometimes it is quiet. The staff will definitely make sure you feel taken of, and are responsive. Best part of this location - it has a full bar. You can get your Thai on and get a nice cocktail as well.

The food here is so tastey!!! All of the items that we ordered (crab pad thai, papaya salad, salmon, tartar) was awesome, but my FAVE was the rib eye appetizer. The service was great! It was my first time at the restaurant, but I'm definitely going back there again!

I really don't understand how people can rate businesses but not be very honest. My family and I went to this place based on, once again, by the yelpers reviews. I was disappointed. It was bad but it wasn't that great for the price on there menu. It was just too pricey. The food taste ok. It's like other restaurants I've eaten at but paid alot less. Parking wasn't a problem, but you still had to pay for it because it wasn't covered or validated by the restaurant. Service at times was a bit on the slow side. I would have to keep looking over my shoulder to see if any of the waitor/waitress was passing by to get there attention. Orders placed would come one at a time. And I still can't get over the fact that this is like an asian-fusion type of restaurant yet they bring the entrees but the rice. It does not take that long to cook a rice and plus I would think that they would already have steam rice cooked like most restaurants do. The other is water took a long time to get. The only other thing I could say is maybe perhaps this was just a bad day for us to come here. But still that should not be the case. Restaurants should be able to perform the same way everytime. There should not be a hit or miss for anyone. Everyone should experience the same service, food quality, and the time it should take you to get your order to your table. This establishment is charging everyone this upscale price for there food, then it should taste that way too. Nothing more to say. Just not what I had expected.

food is really delicious and well-made. the decor and serving dishes and plates are chic and modern. the service is impeccable. i came here yesterday night with about 19 people. with such a big group, it can get a bit frustrating for the server and kitchen. however, the food was all executed very well and in a timely manner and our server was AWESOME!!! she was so friendly, patient and accommodating. i think her name was CJ. not sure but that is the name it said next to our server's name the receipt. anyway, i will come back here the next time i'm in the mission and craving thai.

I 've been twice and not disappointed either time. The food was good and the service was friendly...but parking awful (tho so few places in sf have good parking). Do not miss the crab pad Thai.

  • wendy m.

I just got lunch there after reading the great reviews. The crab pad thai *is* amazing! Warning! The guy who wrote that the food is not spicy in his review is WRONG! The server *must* have simply misunderstood his order (and therefore brought the condiments?). This stuff is on fire! I always order the "thai spicy" and it's never this hot in other restaurants YET at the same time, this dish hasn't managed to lose any flavor in exchange for the heat. It tastes fantastic! I can't wait to go back for more and try some of the other dishes. I've been missing good thai in the Mission. I also love that the restuarant decor is modern and that is is very clean.

I can't say I'm an expert on Thai food so I am not qualified to say it is authentic but I personally thought the food here is flavorful and more on the sophisticated side than say some other typical Thai eateries. Dishes I tried were seasoned subtly so that you can enjoy the flavors of the dishes. Had the pork belly which was cut into bite sized cubes, cooked crisp on the outside, moist and softly chewy on the inside. Probably my favorite from what we ordered. Dungeness crab Pad Thai was good but maybe not a great marriage for me. String beans dish was the only disappointment as beans were a bit too squeaky for me and not especially tasty. Duck noodles was good but not a great complement to the other dishes (our non-Asian buddy ordered this). Also had a kombucha curry and that was good but what isn't good with kombucha. Curry was very smooth and coconut creamy. Atmosphere was pleasant in a modern high tech ambiance and service was quick and efficiently courteous. Actually, lunch might be the great bargain here for $9.00. Good place in a vibrant neighborhood.

Impeccable service, nice decor, nice bathroom. Appetizer was great, entrees not so much. Pork belly, while crispy, was extremely heavily seasoned. I like MSG and cook with it myself, but this had way too much. Pork belly is already rich, so if it's cooked well you probably don't need MSG, much less that much to where it burns your palate. Snapper was very fishy tasting, meaning it wasn't very fresh (fresh snapper is not fishy). It was cooked well, though. We weren't asked what level of spiciness we wanted, which is fine, but generally a courtesy offered at most places. The house beverage with coconut milk and basil and cilantro and ginger and soju just tasted like tom kha/curry in drink form. Tasty, but it was more like cold soup. You really had to think of it like a creamy mojito in order to enjoy it--otherwise it just tasted like Thai soup. The rice and thai iced tea were good. Best thing was the "money bags" appetizer-- we were excited when that came, but the meal unfortunately went downhill after that. In the end, the dinner didn't quite sit well with my stomach either. It just sort of felt off and queasy... The service was really great--they refilled our water and took our orders in a timely manner. The food, while creative, is not something I would choose over other Thai places.

I ordered the yellow curry over brown rice. The chicken was dry and the curry was too spicy even though the worker promised me it wouldn't be spicy at all...Untrue. The potatoes were soft and tasty and the rice was cooked well but this is definitely not a noteworthy meal. Staff was ok because we were greeted with a smile and received our food quickly however our water glasses were empty for a quite a while. The restaurant itself was nice with flattering lighting and pretty comfortable seats but based on my meal, I wouldn't care to try again.

First off -- this is located on my block on 16/Valencia so that's a big plus right there. Secondly, it serves decent, passable traditional thai dishes like padthai, pumpkin curry, spring/summer/egg rolls, chicken satay, and suchlikes, etc. Is it the best thai menu in town? No, not really but it is good and it is not surprising. SF has many good Thai restaurants. Sunflower, which is just a few doors away, and Tham Thai just across the street, are really good. We are spoiled.

It seems like this place is poppin' with great reviews and its been a while since I have been here however I felt the need to go back and write a review so instead of writing you a little novel with a beginning a middle and an end (Family Guy) I will give you a list of awesome factors... * Great Staff, they took care of us and were able to give a normal table without reservations! * Awesome atmosphere! I have never seen a restaurant that has looked like this one! * Amazing Food, you have to try the Crab Pad Thai! * Great prices, you're getting a great meal for a great price!!! * Great deserts! You will not leave here disappointed! * Cannot wait to go back!

Who said the aesthetics are not part of the food experience. As much as I love great food and hole-in-the-wall places. The decor and the water pitcher the little details, just shows you that this place cares. Ohh yea the food is great, creative, and thought out too!

I only been to a few Thai restaurants in SF. Thai House 530 is modern and hip but still serves tradition Thai food. Came here for my actual birthday dinner with my boyfriend's family. Of course, I went the safe route with the vegetable Pad Thai. Which by the way is the current champion in my book of good pad thai. And that is usually all I order when I eat Thai food. The service here was crazy attentive. I kept wondering if I even drank any water because it was filled up everytime I went in for a drink. And I can tell that service does matter here because the manager was running around like crazy making sure everyone was on point, everyone being the servers and food (of course). However, this seems to be a place that will be a one-time visit. Since there are so many restaurants in SF, you can't pinpoint to just one. You got to explore!

After one of us (ahem) hijacked my phone to find the best thai food in the Mission, we ended up here for dinner. They were able to seat us right away at 7:30 without a reservation which was actually really nice. I really liked the interior, and the staff was super friendly... but my duck larb was super super salty, and the lemon dressing didn't help. It seriously felt like I was licking lime salt off each bite. Not awful, but not pleasant.

Food was AMAZING here. The bartender in the front was super nice and made the best drinks ever. What a great find in the mission. Love the decor modern feel. got a yellow tail tar tar appetizer and shared a pad thai with a gf. Loved it! If you are looking for a fun awesome new spot in the mission, come by here to grub or for a drink!

Best yellow curry ever. Huge pieces of succulent chicken. It seemed like half a bird in a giant bowl of curry, falling apart on the fork. I also really appreciate restaurants that give you a carafe of water on you table so you can refill yourself as needed rather than wait for refills and being interrupted.

My bf and I came here last Saturday night, in an attempt to find another Thai restaurant that we might like. We were pleasantly surprised at the location and nightlife going on around this very modern Thai restaurant in the Mission. We walked in and the place was packed at 9pm. The hostess took my cell number and called us within 10 minutes to let us know our table was ready. We ordered the Crab Pad Thai, Sliced Rib-eye with Lemongrass, and the appetizer sampler. The entrees were definitely a hit, boasting with spice and flavor. But the appetizers were just alright. I'd say we would come here again and perhaps try some of their curry dishes. *Side note: Parking can be a little bit of a pain, given there are so many other bars & restaurants in this area.

Came here on a Tuesday night, no wait at all. Service was fast and efficient. Price was about average for Thai food, about $9-$15 per dish. Would definitely come back.

Stumbled upon this place and appreciated the lunch special -a bowl of soup, one appetizer, a small salad, rice and an entree for $12 (.50 extra for brown rice). Vegetarian options, including the soup. Super modern interior design going on inside - loved the clover growing on the white walls look.

The first time that i heard about "Thai House" was 20 years ago while I was still working in Bangkok. When My friend (who just got back from visiting Unite States) told me about the best Thai food that he's ever had was at Thai House, San Francisco. So 12 years ago when I moved here, one of the first thing that I tried was Thai food at Thai House. And oh .... boy, my friend was right. Since then Thai House has been the place that I always go to for my Thai food. Through the years, Thais House has changed and expanded into many locations and Thai House 530 is new invention from Thai House! I would say that they still keep all the best things about their food but also add a new twists with upscale + fancy decoration ( same style as their Thais House on Castro but even better) and now they offer special meal (other than Thai food) on their menu pasta,Rib-eye Steak etc. Today, when I visit T.H. 530, I didn't try other special things on the menu (pasta, Steak,etc.). I just stick with ordering my favorite Thai food. I ordered Special " Phoo Ja", "Yum Hua plea", " Yum Woon Sen" and "Crispy Belly Pork". They are all so Delicious as usual. After all these years and so many Thai restaurant that I have tried. Thai House still remains the one for me.

The food is 2-3 stars but the atmosphere bumps it up to 4. they accomodate big groups. I went there for my bday with 10 people and they were really cool about it. The service is also very good too. It's a super clean and nice thai place!!!

I attended the grand opening of House 530 on 11/11/11. The restaurant was beyond my expectations: sleek interior, white tables and lounge chairs, youthful, and modern. The space was also much larger than I expected it to be. The bar was well stocked with the usual and more. We experienced the coconut lemongrass sake and the sangria. Both are so delicious that we immediately called them "dangerous." I also highly recommend the Thaitini....tastes just like a Thai ice Tea but has 3 shots in it.... The food was very good - we ordered a large variety including the Tom Kha Chicken soup, crispy chicken tacos, crab pad thai, crab and beef fried rice, and tofu with string beans. My only complaint was that the tofu was poor quality - it was fried too much and all was left was the skin. The dish would have been great had the tofu been better prepared. Price was also very reasonable - we paid $160 for 7 people including drinks. Overall, a very good experience. Highly recommend for a girl's night out, date spot, or a celebration of any kind. The crowd was dressed nicely - I don't know if it's bc it was opening night or because people were going out after, but it made the restaurant have a high-end ambiance. Great night and congrats to House 530 on a successful grand opening!

My friends and I went there a few Fridays ago and the food was alright and reasonably priced. I had the pineapple fried rice. The problem is our server lost my friend's credit card and we spent a total of 30-40 minutes waiting for them to find it. The server didn't remember taking the card and bill in its little book (even though she did), and she couldn't find any of it. It's not like the restaurant was super busy that night, either. In a nice attempt to compensate for the situation they didn't charge us for our meal and we were told that my friend would eat there for free, forever. My friend had to call the credit card company and cancel her card. After we left and were already on our way home she got the call that they'd found the card. Monday they tried to charge the card. I've never seen anything like this before. Summary: The food is alright, but I recommend paying with cash so you don't have to deal with the card getting "lost". I don't think I'll be going back. I'm not entirely thrilled with the whole "eat here for free from now on...until Monday when we forget all about offering that."

Great! I got the crab paid thai, and I loved it! As a disclaimer, my brother tried it as well and said it was too fishy tasting. Great service as well. Pumpkin red curry was amazing as well. I will definitely be back!

The restaurant has nice decor and it's clean. It's a little dark if you're not seated in the front by the windows. I recommend seating in the front because it was hard to see the food in the dark (they should really put candles on the table or just turn the track lighting on ) and the bathroom nearby smelled strongly of bleach when the door opened. The music was too loud. I think they wanted a hipster vibe but tried too hard. They gave my mother the wrong kind of rice (white instead of brown) but they quickly corrected the problem. There's a 55 cent difference if you order the brown rice but well worth it because it's so much better. The 12 dollar lunch special is cute. A bowl of coconut soup came with it (choice of veggies or chicken as topping). There's a small salad, appetizer, and entree with the rice. I noticed that the appetizer was pretty generous-- four big pieces of fried tofu came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. The presentation was very pretty (the entree bowl is shaped like a large flower with petals) and the carrots are all shaped like flowers too. I liked the details. I ordered their shrimp pad thai which is suppose to be good according to their official website. It was just okay. It was too sour for my taste and there was only one bean sprout. Sprouts add texture and it is a refreshing counter point to the cloying pad thai sauce. In my case, I found one cooked piece of sprout that looked like it was accidentally thrown in. This could be the second mishap of the day (the first was the wrong rice they gave my mom). My four shrimp were also overcooked and didn't taste fresh. : ( Our waitress was very nice so I gave her a nice tip but I expect better pad thai if I'm going to spend 30 dollars on lunch. I probably won't be back.

So service was ok, food was pretty darn good, and the ambience was nice -- but I'm spoiled by my SoCal livin' so paying more than $10/meal when I go in for Thai rankles me in a way that apparently doesn't rankle my Bay Area friends. However, there really isn't anything I can complain about...maybe that the Thai Iced Tea was served with a little too much cream? The food was delicious! And when I asked for spicy -- they actually gave my spicy food. It was like a revelation! Newflash guys: there are places that will actually make your food (not quite Thai-)spicy for you if you request it of them. The ambiance was nice, definitely felt like a more upscale/lounge-y space, so it was definitely nice to dine in. We came in super early, so the restaurant was basically empty, so the attentive-ish service was lovely as well. So solid 4 stars. :)

One of the best Thai restaurants I've had! The money bag appetizers are so tasty! Just beware of how spicy their sauce for their noodles is! I asked for medium spicy, and it was super spicy!

This place definitely doesn't look like your typical thai restaurant! The look is very new age/upscale and fresh. We started with the sampler that included four appetizers--all of which were excellent. It included Jerkey, Shrimp Rolls, Egg Rolls, and Wontons. We shared the Ahi Salad, which was surprisingly spicy...from the dressing, to the peppered crust on the fish, to the onions. It could have been toned down a bit as far as the spice, but other than that, recommended. For the entrees, we had the Rib-Eye Special and the Pumpkin Curry w/ chicken. The rib-eye was fatty and flavorful (as you would expect) and you can tell them how spicy you want it. It is prepared like a chinese beef dish--sliced and sauteed with veggies in a sauce--rather than a typical rib-eye steak served over rice. The pumpkin curry was tasty, but the pumpkin cubes itself were undercooked and a bit hard. For starch, we had the brown rice, which in itself was very tasty and i wouldn't have minded eating it just by itself. The real reason i wanted to go here were the drinks. We had the Thai Margarita and the House 530. The Margarita was too spicy for me, but it was an interesting experience and my g/f liked it a lot. The House 530 was more to my liking--like a mojito with coconut milk and soju. Both drinks were decently strong, but the flavoring really hid the alcohol until it hits you. There are a lot of other dishes i wanted to try, and i'll definitely be back in the future to try more. Happy Eating!

The lunch special is a killer deal and super filling. I ordered the praram with tofu (not a vegetarian I just like tofu in that particular dish) and had the yummy "sleepy shrimp" as the appetizer. Perfect amount of food for lunch, not too much but just enough that you leave very satisfied and happy. Each lunch special comes with coconut milk chicken soup, and it is amazingly delicious. Great price for the amount of food you get and the service was great. I will be here often.

say what you will...this was an OK Thai place at best...especially when you factor in the huge amount of Thai places in San Francisco...that are not only better, but cheaper. On top of this...someone farted in our area (not taking stars off for that) and that sorta ruined my meal near the end as all I could smell was what they ate. The staff was friendly, the portions were decent sized. It was a bit greesey on one dish and a bit dry and bland on the other, so needless to say, I probably won't be hitting it up again any time soon.

I will admit that the food is very flavorful. But it was also incredibly salty. The saltiest thai food I've ever had - had to have countless glasses of water during and after the meal. And no, I do not have diabetes! I love thai food (I live in the inner richmond; i eat tons of asian food), but this place (while tasty) will do a number on anyone's kidney. Avoid if you care about your health whatsoever. If you don't, then might as well order the pad see ew!

THE best Thai food I have ever had! And, I know my Thai food -- from LA's Sanamluang, DT Sac's Bangkok Thai, and Malibu's Cholada Thai -- I've tried just about every great Thai place that Yelpers can praise in CA. but Thai House 530 is where it is aaaaat people! 5 Stars across the board: - food --- can't name another Thai place with great appetizers, entrees, DRINKS, aaand dessert! #killinem - service --- so friendly & tentative (and good looking, heeeyy. even my boyfriend agreed!) - ambiance --- you don't have to be sweaty in some dirty hole in the wall to get bomb thai food! #winning i think i got caught touching the wall decor, but i couldn't help myself. Came with the boyf during lunch & we ordered: - Beef Jerky --- bf's favorite - Chicken Crispy Tacos --- sooo unique, just order it. you have to try it at least once - Lunch special with Money Bags and Red Chicken Curry --- wish it came with more because I devoured them both with a quickness. money bags are served fresh and crispy, almost burnt my tongue on them! and the red chicken curry was on point! not oily, fish sauce wasn't overpowering, and veggies weren't overcooked. - Pad Thai --- not soggy noodles?! omg thank youuu. it's always satisfying to be served a fluffy and not soggy plate of over sauced/cooked noodles. oh, and a lime with juice in it? thank you again! i hate being served limes that are old and dried out. this place just perfects everything! - Spicy Tom Kha --- PERFECT. i'm a tom kha snob and this was just perrrfect. (and served in an adorable bowl) - Mango Sticky Rice --- a Thai restaurant must for me no matter how full I am; cute presentation and standardly delicious. - Thai Sangria --- dear god I wish I could get the recipe. YOU MUST ORDER IT. just the right amount of kick and a fruity deliciousness with a sweet/tarty twist. it is something I've been in search of since coming here, and I think this is the only place that my tastebuds have been graced with such awesomeness. Yah it's a lot of food, but after tasting how delicious everything was as it came out, we couldn't help but order more. Only downfall? It's not close to where I live so I can't be a regular and my stomach didn't have enough room try my fav: Drunken Noodles. Guess this means I have to come back soon!

This place is so chic and hip! When you first walk in you wouldn't think it's a Thai restaurant. Came here with my girl friends for our girls' night out and we ordered 'Money Bags' for an appetizer! I remember even before we came to this restaurant I took a look at the menu and decided that I wanted to order 'Money Bags' because it was such a funny name. I didn't think twice about what was in it, I just knew I had to have it (it was chicken curry and potatoes wrapped up like a little fried dumpling. Basically looked like a $$$$ (money) bag. hehe)! Ordered the Dungeness Crab pad thai and it was yummy. I ordered it medium-spicy with chilies on the side, but they forgot the extra chilies. It wasn't spicy enough for me so they brought out some lee kum kee sweet and spicy sauce. Hah. Great service, and the owner is pretty cute...all of my friends agreed ;)

I've been obsessed with Thai curry for the past couple of months and have been to SEVERAL different Thai restaurants in that time span, this restaurant being one of them. This is definitely on top of my list. The green curry I ordered was soooo good. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat more than half because it ended up being too spicy for me! I can't handle spicy food, sooo I probably shouldn't have ordered green curry. BUT it was worth it. My friends ordered some drinks, and they were all superb. Had I been drinking that night, I would definitely have ordered something after tasting theirs. Reason for -1 star is the servers aren't super friendly. I almost felt like I was bothering them when I asked for water or napkins, etc.

Held off on writing a review for House 530 even though I've been here a couple times before. I've gone with small parties before and always order the crab pad thai, so I wasn't able to write a comprehensive review based on one dish. I don't normally order pad thai when I go out to Thai restaurants, but the pad thai here is bursting with flavor - definitely a must. Came here on Friday with a group of friends and ate family style so we were able to order a decent number of dishes, and I can confidently say that House 530 is not a one trick pony. Drinks: Sangria and Thaiteani - both great. If you like thai iced tea, order this adult version instead - you'll be glad you did. Thai style beef jerky - has more of a fried consistency to it, so I wouldn't think about it as your typical beef jerky. We requested a green sauce that my sister likes, but I actually favor the sauce that comes with it. Reminds me of "Nam Thok" or the Thai waterfall beef dish. Pair this week sticky rice if you want the full experience. Fresh spring rolls - the rice paper wrap was nice and chewy. I enjoyed this more than I anticipated - really fresh and a great mix of flavors. Papaya salad - I probably wouldn't come here to order this. There are so many other dishes that I feel are a must, but if you are craving it, this one will do the job. My group decided to order this mild, so I may have to update this part of the review. I don't think som thum is really authentic unless it leaves your mouth on fire... Green curry - had a great kick to it. You know the curry is good when you run out of meat and continue to eat just curry broth and rice... Spicy prawns - I think they added this to the menu more recently - dare I say it - this dish almost reminds me of the shrimp trucks in Hawaii that I miss so dearly...minus the mound of mac salad of course. Has a Thai spin to it, so it's not quite on the same level as Macky's shrimp truck, but this will satisfy my spicy shrimp needs until the next time I'm in Hawaii. I've been in New York for a couple months, so of course on my first trip back to the mission, I had to make my way over to bi-rite. Unfortunately I didn't have room for double desserts, but I'll definitely be back. House 530 is quickly becoming on of my go to Thai restaurants in the city. Only downside of this restaurant: why does it have to be so far from my apartment in north beach?

Really modern inside. Great service. Came for lunch on Saturday and it was empty. They also have a great lunch special for $9 on the weekends. The flavor is pretty authentic (according to my Thai husband), so can't go wrong at Thai House 530!

So we decided to try a new restaurant and we all wanted Thai and to eat in the Mission, so my brother chose this placed based on its good reviews and the desire to eat pork belly. Ok, let's start at the beginning... its New Year's Day, around 7:30pm, and the restaurant was fairly crowded. It was my brother, my Aussie friend and myself, and we were seated rather quickly in the far back corner of the restaurant, just behind their kitchen and adjacent to the bathroom. Our first sign of a bad meal to come, lipstick on one of the glasses. They replaced that immediately and poured water, saying someone would be with us shortly. We reviewed the menu and decided to order spring rolls, Thai iced teas and 3 dishes to share: the pork belly special, yellow curry with chicken and drunken noodles with beef. About 10 minutes passed and finally the Aussie got up and asked someone in the kitchen to take our order. Someone came over immediately, took our order, walked away. About 10 minutes later we get our spring rolls. Someone comes over and tells us they are out of beef. Ok fine, so we changed the meat to chicken. Eventually we get our Thai teas and the chicken curry, probably about 10 minutes later. Then an awkward busser comes and asks if we're done and we say that we're still waiting for the rest of our order... eventually the noodles come out. So finally, my brother decides to play good cop and asks to speak to the manager. He comes over and my brother explains the situation, how long we've been there, all the things which have gone wrong thus far, we're still waiting on food... the manager apologizes, offers us more Thai teas on the house, and checks on our order. He comes back and tells us to pick a main course which will be on the house. We said we didn't need that many dishes, but what the hell, so we ordered the pork leg stew. He brings that out right away. Still waiting on the pork belly and more Thai teas... the Aussie hits the restroom, the awkward busser again asks if we're ready for the check, "No!" Finally the manager comes back and asks how things are and we say we're still waiting on the other stuff as well as the teas. He completely forgot he offered us more tea! And then he says "Oh we're out of the pork belly, that's why I offered another dish on the house." With that, he brings us the check and explains the comped parts of it. The total was about $30. The Aussie comes back and we tell him what happened... he gets up, tells the manager we're not paying the bill. The manager understood and we left. No tip, nothing. I'm sure its an excellent restaurant... the food we got was fantastic. The service was awful and yes, granted it was New Year's Day, but we were there for about 1.5 hours and by the time we left there were only 4 other small tables being served. Seriously, it was like the punchline to a bad joke. Such a shame, we really wanted to try the pork belly! Lesson learned, don't try new restaurants on holidays, or, stick to the TL for Thai.

Really, really good. This is the first time I've been able to find some Pad Thai in the same style as the kind I got in Chiang Mai (which I got addicted to while living in Thailand for a few months); the sauce is thick and flavorful. Also really enjoyed the Banana Blossom appetizer; the tamarind is fresh and flavorful and pairs nicely with the prawns. Like nothing else I've ever gotten in the city. Get the egg custard dessert. It is unreal. Staff is also very friendly and attentive, was helped by multiple servers the instant we needed anything.

What hits you right away is the decor. It feels like you're inside a piece of abstract art, like some sort of futuristic eco-abode, complete with... grass on the walls!?. Anyhow, I really enjoyed the experience. The menu is your standard Thai fare, but above average quality. Also, they take care to do the little things right, which makes the place a lot classier and more modern than your standard Thai restaurant. The presentation of the food is gorgeous, and even the plates are pretty. The wait staff was also very nice. The food was a little on the spicy side, but it wasn't a problem as the thai iced tea comes in an enormous glass! I feel like this restaurant gets overlooked, and I don't see why. People were lining up out the door to get into the places next door... I guess that's how it goes in SF. When a place is "hot", everybody wants in. I thought Thai House 530 served great food, plus they have a bar, and we didn't have to wait to be seated. That's a win.

Nice place but not super crowded so if you are in a crunch and don't want to take your friends to a taceria in the mission, Thai House 530 could be the spot. Food: Wings were delicious. Pad see ewe was pretty standard for Thai places. Service: Our server kind of forgot about us and took a while to take our order. I didn't really mind since I was enjoying my conversation with my friends and wasn't in a rush. The server was super apologetic and from that point forward never let our waters get below half empty. Overall honest mistake and did his best to make up for it.

First and foremost, I'm not the biggest fan of Thai food. PERIOD. Decided to try this place out with a good friend of mine after a nice session of yoga and needless to say, WOW. OK, fine, I stuck with the KaProw dish which didn't have too much spices.. (I find that Thai food is too sweet for me and one of the main ingredients includes coconut.. which doesn't exactly tickle my fancy). However!!! probably one of the most delish minced chicken I've had in a while! Also, I had their chocolate red wine which was very nice. Lastly, I must mention that the Taro Fries must be one of the most genius ideas ever! BIG FAN!

Really delicious. I fancy myself a Thai food snob, and now I have added this to my holy trinity of SF thai, to also include: Lers Ros and Marnee. I went for Sunday lunch - it was empty at opening at 11:30. I opted for the lunch special with coconut soup (not too sweet), shrimp spring roll (small, delicate and crispy with a nice sauce), and the red curry chicken (deep orange color, perfectly thick sauce), and brown rice that is real THAI brown rice. One note: i love how in Thailand they mix white rice and this brown rice. I think you guys would go the extra mile doing this. Anyway, nice service - beautiful space. WATCH OUT OSHA! Or step up your game.

Living in the Mission there is an abundance of Thai food options. I've been to this place more times than I can count and it hasn't been open all that long. Most recently I had the money bags (with a great fresh "salsa" of sorts), tom kha soup with udon noodles. What an awesome way to beef up that dish! Then I had my usual papaya salad (the best in town). Their fresh spring rolls are divine as well. Mmmmm...think I know where I'm going for dinner tonight.

Really good food and not too crowded - we were able to get a table without a wait. Only complaint is that they don't come back to refill your water otherwise they would have been a five. However they are a solid four star.

I came here with some of my friends yesterday after they saw that the reviews were really good for this place. The staff was very nice and there was a cool vibe about the restaurant. I ordered the chicken satay which was the the best chicken satay I have ever had. The chicken was so soft and it wasn't burnt. Yay! The peanut sauce was also really tasty and had a little spicy flavor in it. My friends ordered the pumpkin curry and the green curry with medium spice and they really enjoyed their meals even though they were a little more spicy than they hoped for. This place puts a lot of flavor in their food so I would definitely come here again.

Went here for a friends birthday and we had a lot of fun! The cocktails are delicious, and deceivingly strong!! We started with the money bags, which were very yummy. And then I had the roast duck, which was really good, but a little fatty, but duck often is! Very good atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and helpful! YUM!

I heard about this new restaurant from a friend who commented on the interesting way they plate the food. Another mentioned the eclectic modern decor "that somehow works." Those are great but what really matters to me is the interesting selection of food. And it's not overpriced: entree was only $12 yet the crisply pork belly was really great...spicy; crunchy; slightly unusual: the way I like. It came with green beans and I got rice on the side which nicely complemented the dish. At the end, they brought us a bill for over twice our amount by mistake then after correcting we had to ask for a breakdown of the bill after which we realized, for groups of 5 or more, they automatically include the tip: too bad for them because I was going to give them a better one. Because i was feeling so great about the dinner experience and service up until this point. Overall, everyone was really pleased with the dinner.

Tried this place for the 1st time yesterday - I'd recommend it to friends. Had the Tom Ka Kai soup, ordered it "medium spicy" and it was perfect for my tastes, (cleaned out the nasal passages without making my eyes water) creamy coconut base with big pieces of white chicken and mushrooms - very good. Pork Belly with Spicy Green Beans (medium spicy) also very good, with the pork fat perfectly cracklin'. Yellow Chicken Curry over egg noodles - mild - very flavorful. Very clean venue. Attentive service. A bit on the high end price wise, but worth it IMO. We had two beers and the above (two soups) and the bill was about $45 w/o tip.

This place looks great, like an arty, creative and modern thai place from outer space. It is not. It is a sports bar right out of the Mall. It was full of out of control screaming sports fanatics. I am all for sports, but there is a time and place for everything. When S.F. was in the World Series two years ago, every where you went, the game was on and it was great. We were all cheering. This night, no Bay Area team was in the game and these people were shrill/screeching nuts. This place is not really designed for screaming. It is full of hard white shiny surfaces that bounces sound around like pinballs. I thought I was being tortured. I'd say try it on a non sports night. Except, I think with cable you can always find something sports related and apparently these folks are not picky. Maybe just take your ear plugs.

I've been here three times now and everything I've had is real good. It is a fresh and hip style of place with a beautiful bar as the centerpiece with a good sized flat screen to watch the game on. The ambiance elevates the food to a higher standard than you would expect from a typical tacky looking Thai restaurant. All the standard Thai dishes are here and executed well with high quality ingredients. There are also some fusion dishes including the fantastic Thai Tacos. They have a decent selection of beer and wine to choose from. It is nice to see they keep Torpedo on tap. Thai House 530 is the best Thai place in the Mission that I have been to.

  • Nilson S.

The place is very well-decorated and seems to be popular among hip people in the area. We ordered barbecue pork chops and fried thai rice. The pork chops were very good while the thai rice was ok. We've never been to a lot of Thai restaurants, so it's possible that's just what the rice tastes like - it didn't feel like anything special to us though. Service was good, but not great. The price is cheaper than other restaurants in the area and the service is better than other Thai restaurants nearby so it may be worth a shot.

Ya know, Thai House 530 is a pretty decent restaurant. I figured we'd just grab a quick bite for a large party accommodation and not have to worry about expensive meals seeing as how most of everything on the menu was less than $16. The space is simply gorgeous and large to boot! I can't say the decor inside, with it's pastel paper flowers and butterflies were the wisest of choices but the turf up against the white walls is a unique touch. We're all here for the food and drinks at the end of the day. The Thai-tini was a great twist on the usual thai iced tea, adding a little pep in my step for the night ahead. The meals were all prepared very well, and LARGE portions satisfied even the biggest of bellies at our table. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of smiles when the food got passed around. The service was gracious and friendly only approaching us when we needed and never made you feel out of place. I would gladly be back for another meal or two.

Went here on our Thursday date night we were welcomed at the door and seated quickly. Cool ambiance, good for conversation, but service was very practical. Ordered Tom Kha chicken soup-good mixture of coconut creamy and lemongrass, pineapple fried rice with tofu-flavor was good but would choose meat option instead of tofu, chicken red curry with brown rice-standard fresh veggies good flavor Recommend this place if you are in the area and craving some Thai food but wouldn't go out of my way to come here

I was here yesterday for lunch with my mom and my partner. It was dead, which was the most disappointing aspect for a Sunday brunch time. BTW. This place has HUGE potential to be a brunch mecca in the mission so I would highly recommend implementing a Sunday brunch menu... or even happy hour! LOVE LOVE LOVE THE AMBIANCE! Back to my experience. I ordered a pad Thai which was so DELICIOUS. The lunch combo for $9 was pretty good (very little food) but no other complaints. Then for dessert I had a chocolate crepe which was VERY blend. That's where they lost a star for me.. Overall experience. Very good. I will be back.

Monday, 8:30PM. Quickie: +Good food +Courteous service +Clean venue +Modern feel - Slightly overpriced And then...? It makes my SF rotation of Thai restaurants. ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Chicken pad thai +Thick, firm noodles with plenty of chicken

Went for dinner. Made reservations but they weren't needed as it wasn't very busy tonight. We had the Pu Jah (or something like that) appetizer. Delicious take on a crabcake. For entrees we had the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and the Pra Ram with chicken (a la carte). Both were very good. Fried rice was not too greasy and had good flavor. Pra ram was mostly chicken and the veggies were more like a garnish...with a delicious peanut sauce on top. Service was pretty good, though they seemed to forget about us for a bit after our meal. Regardless, we would go back again or recommend it to others. Cheers!

Ok like I said I don't like having to write bad reviews. In my N=1 experience here...I made the following observations: 1) Food: Below average. I've had much better Thai even down on the peninsula. Perhaps they will improve in this regard. In particular, it was the entrees that were the problem...the flavors fell flat and the presentation was not pleasing for any of the dishes we tried that night. The starters had more flavor and promise...perhaps they can work from that angle and improve the main courses. Or maybe we somehow choose all the wrong things to choose. 2) Service: Below average (yes even for the Bay Area which is saying a lot). Slow, inattentive, and not even a smile as they took my credit card for a poor showing of a meal. Perhaps, they people were new or didn't know how to handle a Saturday night crowd...I don't know. The place looked nice....decent design. I suspect this may be one of those places that a wealthy restauranteur or group purchases, turns around, spins a wheel and hits the word "Thai", makes it "hip" looking and then moves on knowing they will make money even if forgetting about the keys to a good dining experience...food quality and service quality on a consistent basis. Sorry to be harsh but this was not a good first impression. Recommend: No. Hopefully they will improve.

so, i live near clement street - i still think there's the best southeast asian food per square foot on clement - especially for the price. also, the mission is really starting to piss me off. it's like someone imported a couple blocks from the marina and dropped them on valencia. don't get me started on the hipsters. anyhoo - i took a date to Thai House 530 - they were perfect. sometimes you sacrifice food quality for decor / ambiance / service - but these guys had the whole package. we had the papaya salad and the red snapper - ordered it spicy - which was awesome. owner (Paul) and bartender (Matt) - both SF natives and foodies. working really hard to put this place on the map - and doing a really good job. can't recommend highly enough - especially for a date place.

My favorite Thai place ever. The staff is always super easy going and the vibe is great. Mostly, though, its the food! perfectly spicy, well cooked and not too salty, this place kills it every time. Money bags, Pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, salmon in banana leaves, all awesome. Also, thanks to Eric for being a great bartender! He's great to hang out with.

I have never had a bad meal in my travels to Thailand--and I have never had a bad meal at Thai House 530. Kudos to Paul and his family for creating a really unique and fantastic dining experience in an area crowded with trendy restaurants. I love coming here and taking my friends.

The first time I came here was a while back, it was for a friends bday dinner before clubbing at dragon. We had reservation for 9 (big group) and I didnt have much of any expectation, but oh man once the plate of dungenous crab pad thai came out, I knew I would be in for something good. We had the dungenous pad thai, banana blossom appetizer, satay chicken, green curry and pineapple fried rice. I couldn't stop eating! Even after I was full, I wanted to eat more...yes it is that good. Oh and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. Ive been back here twice since, and unlike others who raves about loving this place, I HATE IT...I hate you guys for making thai food SO GOOD that I cant eat it anywhere else

Good bang for the buck. Where else in this neighborhood can you get $11 entrees in a clean, designed setting? Portions are small, but tasty. Worth a nibble: roasted duck, peanut sauce over tofu and veggies, and drunken noodle.

Great Thai food with the right amount of heat. Service is not very friendly but is efficient. Food a bit pricey compared to eating $1 Pad Thai in Thailand...but hey, this is San Francisco. One quirk: they have a bar but no proper mixed drinks, only drinks made with Sake or wine.

One word to describe this place... amazing! The staff is way friendly and their always checking up on you to see if you're doing well. They never disappoint with their food (hmm tried the pork belly or fried chicken wings with sticky rice). The vibe of this place is also very cool and chill. I recommend this place! So if you're ever in the mission, check it out!!!

Food is Awesome!!! Nice presentations!! Love the interior... beautiful .....cleaned line...trendy. Pan Fried Noodles is the best in town. Green Curry is super delicious. And don't forget the "Crape" dessert stuffed with ice cream!! YUM!!! Enjoyed every bites.....!! Have to go back again.... :)

Ssssllllloooowwwwwww. Unacceptably slow. Particularly since there were only a few other tables with people. The waiter said it's because there were only two of them working there that day...I guess that's an excuse but doesnt' change the SLLLLOWWWEENNEESSS. Food was decent, in the end nothing else in SF compares to Marnee Thai as far as Thai food however. I certaintly don't plan to ever again wait as long as I did for food of this quality.

The food was really tasty, although skimpy on the protein in our shrimp dish. The drunken noodles are really good! The service, however, really needs improvement. I've been there twice and both times the server seemed really indifferent, forgot to bring us things (even though it was not busy at all), didn't bother to ask how we were enjoying the dishes, and on our first visit, the bartender suddenly put a basketball game on with the volume up and started yelling at the t.v. - as a handful of tables are trying to enjoy an early dinner. Tacky.

A very hip restaurant (plus friendly service) in a very hip part of town. Recommend the Ahi Tuni, Taro Fries, Crab Pad Thai, and 5 Spice Duck. The wine selection isn't bad with Malbec from Argentina a good value.

How, how, how does this place have so many good reviews? Okay I'm giving it 2 stars for nice ambiance and decent service & price. But food..? I know amazing service can sometimes make up for mediocre food. But food here was just bad?! Rice was mushy. Pad Thai was so over cooked that you couldn't even hold the noodle without breaking (it was mushy too. I hate mushy mushy mushy noodles.) I ordered their BBQ pork dish and it was so... boring. Rice & bbq pork with no vegetables (unless you call one piece of lettuce used as a decoration a side of vege). I know my food. Food here is not worth returning for.

Thai House 530 is not your same old Thai restaurant. It's upscale without being overpriced. The menu is innovative, and the food is beautifully executed and delicious. Soju cocktails are usually pretty unexciting, but their soju margarita is bursting with ginger deliciousness and was surprisingly great. The design of the space is inventively modern and clean, like the movie 2001 A Space Oddysey, but more arty. Very hospitable and sincerely friendly service. The hostess is a model. Fun place, great dinner. Check 'em out!

I really, really LOVE the interior design and food, but I really, really DISLIKE the noise level. I went twice on a Friday night and I guess it was the bartenders friends birthday and he had all his friends over. It wasn't a pleasant atmosphere to have a nice chat after a long day at work. I came back a few weeks later and friends from the bartender (not sure if it was the same) were sitting at the bar talking REALLY loud. I get it that it's nice to have company when you work on a Friday night, but this is still a restaurant and not a bar/lounge. Besides that I really enjoy the place.

It was my first time visiting so I decided to order some Pad Thai. They had a variety of choices from tofu to beef to only vegetables. I ordered mine with beef and vegetables. The time for it to be ready was reasonable and it was incredibly delicious. It was a bit overpriced but the environment was great and they offered very friendly service. If you're ever in the area, it is certainly a place to check out.

I came here on opening night and was pretty impressed with the restaurant overall. Very trendy and exceptionally clean for a Thai restaurant. menu was unique and creative while still preserving Thai flavors and ingredients. Appetizers and entrees were all delicious. The pork leg stew and curry salmon fillets were my favorite. The first was tender with bold flavors and the second was cooked nicely in a great sauce. Drinks menu had some nice selections too.

Not a ton of choices, but everything we had was great. Will be back next time Max's yellow curry fever acts up. On another occasion we got take out. Was not nearly as good. This is a 4 star for sit-in, 3 star for take-out.

A group of 5 of us ladies went out to celebrate a birthday. Here's our menu: *Four-some combination platter (really nice variety) *Dungeness Crab Pad Thai ( a bit too mushy for me but the girls enjoyed it) *Yellow Curry Chicken (the flavor was delish but dark meat was used & we've been used to eating this dish with white meat) *Ma Kuer (we ordered this with beef....OMG, simply delicious!) *Prig King (we ordered this with tofu, it was really good) *Exotic Bomba (OMG, OMG, this dessert was amazingly good!! Refreshing after a spicy meal) Overall the meal was fantastic, the atmosphere was casual yet trendy. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. They added a candle to the Exotic Bomba and accompanied it with a Happy Birthday melody! It was also nice to see the owner at the bar and Asian chefs preparing Thai food opposed to Latinos preparing Thai??!!! (I'm Latina, so I can say that!)

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! I am a huge fan of thai food and I am so happy this place popped up in the city! From entering to exiting, this place is always 100% what you expect to get and more! The servers are nice, the food is awesome, ambiance is great, the LYCHE sangria is amazing (I guess it's obvious I'm craving their food right now). Back on the East Coast it's hard to find good Thai food but I am happy to have run into this place-- I recommend it for everyone!

Thai House has entered the scene, and admittedly, it's a tough scene because there are a number of excellent Thai places in the city. I was excited because my neighborhood is the throbbing hipster heart of the Mission and Thai House 530 is about a 45 second walk from my abode, and I love me some good Thai. Let's start with the decor. It's sleek, it's modern, and it has astro-watercress (yes, the updated version of astroturf) on the walls. I would give it 4 stars because it's clean and modern and tried to be different. I personally like places with a bit more, um, patina, but that's ok, it had a fun ambiance. I'm subtracting a star for the TV. I don't like sports and I especially don't like sports with my dinner. Sports lovers can go over to Giordano's (I will never forgive Ti Couz for closing its doors, btw) please. The service was friendly, but extremely slow and unorganized. There were long stretches between courses, so instead of having appetizers at once, they kind of trickled out, in no particular order (salad did not come first) and then there were periods of 10-15 minutes where we had no food at all in front of us. I'm usually not picky about service, but this was just painful. They also completely forgot one of our dishes. The staff was apologetic about this, and gave me a thai iced tea on the house, so that was a nice gesture. The staff were definitely trying hard. I figure a new restaurant always has some kinks in the beginning. 2 stars for now, but hopefully that will get better once they have their system down. The food was pretty good. The Papaya salad was nice and not too acidic, and the MoneyBags were crisp and flavorful. I really enjoyed both quite a lot. We also ordered the Pumpkin Curry (which is the dish by which I judge all Thai joints) and the curry was alright. It was a strange dark red color, and very mild in spice (so the red was clearly not from chilies), but not unpleasant. However, the bits of pumpkin were few and far between, and the chicken tasted like it was quite old. I avoided eating the chicken bits and we didn't take our leftovers home (a first). The option of brown rice was nice. We had ordered a fish dish which never arrived, so I can't comment on that. 4 stars for the apps, and 2 stars for the curry. 0 for the fish. Overall, it was a bit expensive, and I feel too many restaurants come to the Mission because it's a "sure thing" these days. If the interior is going to be swanky, the food needs to match. Otherwise, I may as well pedal my ass on over to SOMA (which is where my fave Thai places are). I think this place has potential and I would try it again.

If you're in the mission and in the mood for some Thai, this is a great option. Decent beers on tap, great crab pad thai, and the curries are pretty good too, without a mind-blowing price (like Osha tends to creep on). Staff was good too, kind of like my friends were serving me (or at least they reminded me of people I knew).

Best Thai in the Mission, hands down. I've been here for lunch and dinner. I've also gotten takeout. Have I mentioned that this is the best Thai food in the Mission? :) I've ordered everything from drunken noodels to panang curry and everything was delicious. The money bags are the only item I've ever ordered and thought were mediocre -- just not enough flavor. Also, a word of advice: they take you seriously when you say spicy. I made that mistake once and ended up sweating through my meal. The food is great, the waitstaff is attentive, and it's economically priced. I'm so glad this placed opened -- now I just wish we could convince them to offer delivery.

Came here for mothers day. Yes, it's a bit of an odd place to celebrate mommys, but hey, they like Asian food and it's hard to find an Asian restaurant that looks nice clean and modern on the inside. Food: Not bad. nothing memorable, but I enjoyed the meal while I was there. Service: Not bad. Ambiance: Pretty modern for a Thai place. Like I implied, it's very presentable. One of the negatives is that they have an open kitchen, so when they cook with lots of spices, chili or peppers, the fumes come into the dining area. We all had a coughing, eyes stinging moment mid-dinner from the peppers coming from the kitchen. They probably need a stronger kitchen fan.

I went to House530 with a group of friends the other week and we had an amazing time! The food speaks for itself. Drinks - Since there was a large group of us, we literally ordered every single mixed drink on the menu. I love mojitos so of course, my fave was the House530 which is a coconut milk mojito in a nutshell. Ribeye beef with green onions - The meat is REALLY tender and marinated to the tee. Papaya salad - One of the best ones I've had by far! Tuna tartar cup - Holy cow sooooo good! A Thai version of Hawaiian poke but with more flavorful goodies like cilantro and lemongrass. Crab pad thai - Ummm who doesn't love crab and noodles??? Generous amounts of crab with perfectly cooked noodles. A lot of Thai restaurants fall into the trap of adding too much sauce making their noodles too soggy or it's too dry...House530 perfected it! Crispy pork belly - Okay so I'm not even a big fan of pork but I could not stop eating this dish. No joke, lots of CRISPY pork and veggies! Salmon wrapped in banana leaves - One of my obsessions from the sister restaurant Thai House Express, the salmon is so moist and the green sauce is so bomb! I think I could eat that sauce with anything. Banana fritters - A churro but a banana version with a tasty vanilla dipping sauce! Didn't feel as guilty eating it since it's a fruit :) Mango with sticky rice - We basically had to fight over it. That should explain a lot. Love the décor with the astro turf walls and shades of grey. Our server was awesome and really really friendly, not to mention the food comes out fast! I definitely left BEYOND satisfied and stuffed...my mouth is watering writing this review!!!

I came here on a whim a couple of Thursdays ago and was really, really happy with the pumpkin curry I ordered. I've gotten this dish at almost every Thai restaurant I've eaten at, but this is the first time I found myself craving the dish days afterwards (and no, I'm not joking). The curry was a sweet, creamy and simply an amazing blend of flavors. The crab cake appetizer I got (a special on the menu) was just good, not great. Or maybe it just paled in comparison to my yummy curry. The decor was modern and the staff was friendly and attentive. The prices were also reasonable. I will definitely come back with a small group of friends if only to sample more of their dishes...and then head out for drinks in the Mission. If you're in the Mission and craving Thai food, you really need to go the Thai House 560.

Grand opening last night was amazing. The decor is a modern white with artistic pieces throughout the restaurant. Jazz music is playing in the back and bartenders pouring beer, wine, and sake/soju. If you added in a dance floor, it would be the new premiere lounge in the Mission. As soon as you taste the food here, you will realize that House 530 is the restaurant it was meant to be first, and cool, sleek, new lounge second. Must have's here are the Tom Kha Chicken soup and the Crispy Chicken Tacos. I know what your thinking... Chicken Tacos at a Thai restaurant? YES!!!! It is amazing. I would also recommend the Sangria and the Coconut Lemongrass Sake. Both are dangerously good. I also heard their cocktail, "Fog City," which has a Greek yogurt base, is really good as well. Best of luck to this new happening spot in the Mission!

Recently renovated, it's a great little spot that has delicious Thai food on Valencia. I wouldn't say that it's outstanding, but definitely in the league for some quality food that's some of the best in the area.

If you enjoy the sweet/spicy "fusion" Thai that's popular in SF, this is a good spot. While the lunch special seems a bit steep at $12, the two times I went the food quality was a lot better than I expected. Weird fact: this storefront used to be a punk venue called the Deaf Club.

Tasty food and a bougie loungey atmosphere. The food was good (the crab pad thai does indeed pack a punch!) but I probably wouldn't come back given the plethora of other, cheaper Thai options in the city.

Just had my second dinner at House 530, and the restaurant just opened two days ago. I had to go back for the linguine with prawns -- so different and delicious! A little spicy, which I LOVE, and the parmesan cheese on top is a nice touch. (Reminiscent of my other favorite modern Asian pastas -- uni pasta, mentaiko pasta.) Also try: rib eye skewers, pork leg stew, pad thai, sangria :) This is officially my new go-to place for a casual, comfortable dinner. Great music, atmosphere, service, and food!

A group of us came here after the Chinese New Year Treasure Hunt. The yelp reviews were great and they took our group reservation for 9:30. I really appreciate this level of service. Unfortunately, the food fell a little short. Despite the time of day, our wait staff was incredibly professional. We were a group of about ten. We were seated promptly. Our orders were taken quickly. And, we got our food fast. The best thing I tried was the Tom Kah Gang. The flavor was the perfect combination of creamy, sour, salty and sweet. The vegetables in the soup were very fresh and very flavorful. The quality of the ingredients was clear. Unfortunately, my entree was not as good. I had the lemongrass beef and while the flavor was ok. The slices of tough lemongrass throughout the dish were inedible and too small to pick out. I do not know why they didn't use the more tender center of the lemongrass. But, it was like eating a dish with sand in it. On the bright side, the beef was very tender and had good flavor. The dish was also could have used some more acid and got a little boring after the first few bites. I also did not particularly like the crab pad thai. Crab is good. Pad Thai is good. Unfortunately, the pad thai was a little bland and the flavorless noodles detracted from the flavor of the crab. I could have used much more sauce and definitely it needed a big splash of acid and some greens to create some textural contrast. I also think the portions were on the small side and the price was a little high. I looked at the new menu online and it looks like they lowered the prices a bit. But, it also looks like the special unique dishes are gone for more typical thai restaurant dishes. I think my biggest problem with Thai House is that the food was good. But, it was not that memorable. And, that is a shame because it is in a great location. It is in the heart of the Mission. The design is hip and fun. It is dark and intimate. But, at the same time modern and trendy. It is a perfect place for a date. But, while the food is good, I can't really recommend it.

A disclaimer: I live in the South Bay, where Asian food is unparalleled, so my Thai food standards are really high. I ordered a lunch special: shrimp green curry, with steamed rice. It came with a little bowl of soup, a shrimp roll and a small green salad, which was a nice touch but the usual, and the curry was really nothing to write home about. I've given an extra star for the cool ambience, but the service and food are strictly okay, no great shakes.

I am torn between the 3 and 4 stars.... 4 stars for their green prawn curry, but 3 for the rest of the dishes we ordered. Staff are friendly and the tables aren't so crammed together that you are eating off your neighbor's shoulder. It's a bit 'modern' for my taste in terms of decor, but a lot of work obviously went into it.

  • dJ C.

Food was as good as in many other Thai restaurants. They charge extra for brown rice though ("brown rice is more expensive, sir"): that shows a money-maker attitude which I cannot sympathize with. Will not come back.

When you walk in, the restaurant is bright and very modern. The staff are very welcoming and definitely make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. I was fortunate enough to be able to try all of the drinks on the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed each drink but my favorite was the Bangkok Swinger. If you prefer drinks that are on the sweeter side but have a slight kick, this is the way to go. If you are a non-alcoholic beverage type of person, try the thai tea! Not too sweet...but juuuust right! Ribeye beef with green onions - I'm not a red meat fan...but this ribeye was EXCELLENT. The meat is EXTREMELY tender, and required no work since the pieces were already cut before hitting the table. Even though the beef was precut, each bite was juicy and filled with marinated goodness! Papaya salad - I looove papaya salad but some restaurants have their salad drowning in dressing. This papaya salad WASN'T DROWNING in the dressing; there was just enough to coat each bite. It was soooo refreshing; one of the best papaya salads I've tasted. It was so good that I actually hoarded the last of the salad for myself! Crab pad thai - The crab pad thai was so yummy! You can ask for extra spicy (beware thai spice is pretty spicy) or mild. They were not shy on the crab; but had just the perfect amount of flavor! I expected no less. Prig King - Which was basically out veggie dish had green beans and tofu with generous amounts of garlic and bell peppers. The beans weren't soggy and drenched in sauce. You could definitely taste the delicious garlic as well as enjoy the slight crunch of the veggies. I love me some veggies! Crispy pork belly - Also not a big fan of pork but I could not stop eating this dish. The pork was full of flavor (not overwhelming at all) but so addicting. I was only visiting the city but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at House530 and would definitely make it a point to return and eat here again when I visit SF. The food was prepared and delivered to our table very quickly; our stomachs were ready to eat! I left the restaurant with a full, happy tummy and and awesome impression of a good thai restaurant.

Absolutely amazing, everything! Karo stick appetizer (like unsalted fries), spicy green curry, pineapple fried rice with SHRIMP, and the red sangria. All delicious! Great service even as we stayed when they started closing. Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly servers. I'll be going here as often as I can. Great price too! I really appreciated how affordable it was for a place that looks very edgy but lowkey about it. I'll definitely be bringing everyone here that visits from out of town. Go now before the rest of San Francisco finds out about it!

I went here last night for an impromtu dinner with friend and was pleasantly surprised. While the eco-storm-trooper chic decor is a little odd, the food was darn good and reasonably priced. Started with a small bowl of tom kha gai soup which was spot on. Yes I took the bowl up to my mouth and drank the last drops. At other places I have seen this soup be too oily or have too many inedible things floating in it. Not here. It was just good eatin. For my main I had a garlic chicken dish which was served on steamed veggies. The cabbage on the bottom of the plate was cooked but still crunchy. Again I ate every last piece on my plate. One overlooked detail: the straws are just too short for the tall glasses.

We came here on NYE night.. This place was a great find -- totally fit the bill for what sort of restaurant I wanted for my friends and I. On NYE, most restaurants require a fix price for 3/4/5 course meals. We didn't really want to do that so opted for something more casual but still nice. Thai House 530 was perfect -- as many of the reviewers had mentioned, the decor was modern and just all appealing to your aesthetic senses. Moreover, the food was fabulous (my fav; crab pad thai!), and the price point was a steal for the quality of food and the environment. We all ended up paying $30 all inclusive of tax & tips for the meal AND drinks. The service was also incredible -- really nice and attentive servers (our water glasses were never empty). What else made this place awesome? Letting us buy their large (and I mean large!) bottle of sake for a very reasonable price! :) This restaurant is totally on my list of favs & places to recommend to people.

I'm still on the hunt to find a Thai place as good as Sala Thai (the old, not the new) used to be in my hometown. Although I enjoyed my meal at Thai House 530- I've got nothing in particular to rave about. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. on a rainy Saturday night and were seated promptly. (Despite our reservation being set for 7:00 p.m.... PS: We were the only ones in the place!) For as rave reviews as this place receives, I was a little shocked how empty it was. Our server, while attentive, offered us a challenge in communication. I'm not sure if we weren't being clear- but our questions were not answered in a way that I'd deem helpful. We ordered: Appetizer Sampler (Veggie Rolls, Beef Jerky, Tempura Shrimp, and Money Bags) I loved the Veggie Rolls, Beef Jerky, and Shrimp- but I can pass on the Money Bags. They were a little dry in the middle- and lacked flavor- as far as I'm concerned. BBQ Chicken (Dry- would not order this again) Crab Pad Thai (Whoever had the idea of adding crab to this dish is a genius. Although I liked the idea, the execution wasn't superb. I want more crab meat!) Spicy Green Beans (Delicious- but Betelnut still rocks my socks!) Would I venture back to the mission for this meal again? Probably not- but I didn't leave dissatisfied.

Hidden gem in the hood of mission. Restaurant decor is very hip and trendy, classic hipster in the nook. Food was good, but drinks were more interesting. Ambiance: intimate and eclectic. good for small group or couples to dine. Lots bars nearby for bar hops after dinner.

I have been to this place twice and there isn't much to say. Its a more "trendy" thai restaurant that looks nice and is located in a great area but the food is totally unimpressive and has a cold feel. Don't waste your money.

(disclaimer: I'm really happy to see ANYTHING open in this long-vacant space on one of my favorite blocks in the city) Grades: A: menu, food, drinks, dessert, decor, overall atmosphere) B: service. Staff was nice, but a little awkward. D: the bill. We knew what to expect when we got it, so this is my way of saying that the place is a little pricey. Overall, though, I can see myself going back a few times per year. Welcome to Valencia, House 530!

Excellent dining experience. Went there with a group of 2 girlfriends and was so impressed by everything about the restaurant. The casual but fun atmosphere, the decor, the food, and the experience. I got the coconut chicken soup, which was hands down the best I've ever had. Also the Thai sangria was great and the fresh spring rolls. Definitely looking forward to going again! :)

We stopped in here after a long day of cycling in San Francisco, looking for a hearty meal. We feel as if we got so much more. The decor was very trendy and stylish- what we imagined a hip San Francisco restaurant would look like. If you like your restaurants to be more well-lit and traditional, you may want to avoid this place. The food was top notch. My manfriend started out with a tom yum soup with chicken which was incredibly delicious. Not too spicy, but very tart, and not lacking in vegetables. I decided to warm up a different way- with a Thai Ginger Margarita, easily one of the best drinks I've ever had. The ginger wasn't too strong, which made this beverage extra effective. For our meal, we ordered the five spice duck (with Thai chili sauce), along with their pad thai with shrimp. The duck was perfectly cooked- it melted in your mouth, and was served in a delicious sauce, along with the chili sauce on the side with a large serving of cabbage. We devoured this dish in no time at all. We loved the pad thai as well. It wasn't too dry or sticky, as pad thai sometimes is at other lower end Thai restaurants. We decided to finish out our meal with their mango sticky rice, which was mindblowingly amazing. Their mango was perfectly ripe and could easily be cut with a fork, but still maintained some of its tartness, instead of being overly sweet. It was the perfect foil to the warm sticky rice covered in salty crispy soy beans, which was topped with warm coconut milk. A wonderful way to finish our meal. This restaurant can be found on the bustling Valencia street. We loved the ambiance here, and we were surprised that the prices at this restaurant were more than reasonable for being in such a trendy location! You would never find that on the Upper East Side! Give this place a try- I can assure that you will not be disappointed at the very least. : )

Saw a blog from Carlie C and had to try this place. It is very modern and the food was delish. Money Bags, crispy chicken curry pouches potatoes, carrots, cucumber salad-fried to perfection with lots of flavors. The curry doesn't overwhelm everything, which is great. Papaya salad with tofu, green beans, tomatoes, peanuts, chili, lemon dressing-very fresh, but wish I got it more spicy Special: Green onions wrapped with ribeye skewers. The meat was super tender and usually when it's wrapped like that it gets chewy, but not this time. Pumpkin curry with chicken-so good. I am not a big fan of curry, but this over rice was delish Special: Green curry sautee udon with pork and vegetalbes-the flavors of this was so good and the green curry had that extra kick of spice which I loved. Wish the noodles weren't so mushy. Taro Fries-Crispy and oh so good! Will come b y to try other things.

Modern, minimal, and trendy decor. Decent prices. What stands out most is the pad thai. I know, typical! But they do it well.

This is a perfect addition to Valencia Street's recent incarnation. This place is gracious, unpretentious, space age, friendly and best of all....has great food. Every dish we had was great. Fresh. Flavorful. Plentiful. I can wholeheartedly recommend Tom Gha Gai (Coconut sour chx soup), Gai Ka Prow (spicy minced chx), Larb (spicy minced beef salad) and Linguine Prawns. It's strangely beautiful slick futuristic decor, genuinely friendly staff and outstanding food make this a necessary stop on the New Valencia

They advertise lunch until 4. We were there at 3:45. Got serviced at 3:50. They said the cook stopped serving lunch. So we left. Bad service.

Food was fantastic. We started with the Four-some combination sampler crispy vegetarian rolls, money bags, beef jerky, sleepy shrimp. It was a great app to share between two people, our favorite of the four were the money bags and the vegetarian rolls. For dinner we had the Crab Pad Thai, the pumpkin curry with chicken and steamed rice. We really enjoyed both. We'll be back and in the future we would probably get a different Pad Thai because it was difficult to taste the crab (we didn't think of it before we ordered, but crab is a pretty delicate flavor, and Pad Thai is full of strong flavors, the crab was there, but overwhelmed). For drinks we had the Bangkok Swinger and the House 530, I'm not a huge fan of sake cocktails, but honey enjoyed them. Ambiance, hipster, trendy, mod, a little cold. Service was friendly, but not on point. 5-6 people came by within the first three minutes that we sat down, but towards the end, no one came by. No biggie. The food is their strong point.

I'm definitely coming back. There are so many things I want to try on the menu. I had the crab pad thai, tofu thom kha, and taro fries. The taro fries were not what we expected: they were really thin and crispy instead of thick and crunchy, but they were still great.

Summary, the service was nice, they've got a full bar, portion size was good, but there are too many options in the Mission to eat mediocre Thai food, I doubt I would go back. Meal =$49.91 (tip not included) 1 small pot Tea Iron Wu'long organic roasted jade tea sugar cane, coconut 1 cranberry juice in a lovely glass 1 fried calamari appetizer 1 five spices duck 1 Pra Ram with shrimp The fried calamari was a good size for an appetizer. They were crispy and not at all greasy. They were however chewy. Five spices duck was just ok. the duck was well done which I generally like but the meat was a little dry. How does one dry out a duck, I don't know. The flavor was fine, but not as exciting as I would imagine 5 spices to be. The Pra Ram was my favorite part of the meal. The peanut sauce was tasty and just the right amount, there was a respectable number shrimp about 6 or 7 and it was perfectly cooked. Perfectly cooked shrimp always impresses me. They have a nice selection of teas although I was disappointed by no hot Thai tea. The waitress assured me that the Tea Iron Wu'Long wouldn't be sweet and she was correct. There wasn't much flavor at all which I suspect was from the water not being hot enough. When I pay $5 for tea (which I never do) I want to be able to taste it. My dining partner commented that he wished everything was a bit warmer so I guess the tea fit right in. Impression- Thai House 530 certainly has a unique look Clean lines all white with the exception of some green patches of what looks like fake watercress patches on the walls. As I move further into the space, even the ceiling was stylized and reminded me of a 70's futuristic movie. They are really breaking away from a traditional Thai place and didn't even have spoons on the table, only forks. Everything was very clean and the kitchen is somewhat open which is only noticeable as you walk back to the restrooms (which was very clean).

I happened upon this place and it was a blessing. IT handles vegans and vegetarians but also offers a wide range of meaty fare for the rest of us. I had tomka gai, a Bangkon Swinger, and taro fries. I was happily full and I will come back again and again. I also stole some of my friends extra spicy red curry! So good!!!! The Signature drink the House 530 is probably the most amazing thing I've had in a while. I will be back Paul. Thank you for such welcoming service and delicious food. We came in with a group of 7 and they still had us seated and ready to go in 10 minutes. And it was Saturday night and ridiculously busy, we had our food in a good amount of time as well.

My go to Thai place! Love that it's open past 10 on weekdays. They never bat an eye when we come in close to closing time. Clean, crisp decor, efficient and friendly service, good prices and every dish I've tried has been freshly made and delicious. Tom Kha, pra ram, prik king, pad thai, spring rolls and prik nam pla to top it all off--you really can't go wrong.

You know you're in SF when there's dungeness crab on the menu. Dungeness pad thai was flavorful, unique, delicious, and very generous on the crab. I also recommend the curries! Everything is also presented and plated really well here: clean cut and inviting. Decor is trendy and hip, ambiance is perfect for talking and laughing without having to shout over music or other customers. Foodwise, I think I still prefer the hole-in-the-wall family-owned type of Thai restaurant (you'd also get more bang for your buck), but this place boasts a more energetic and youthful vibe. If I were to go back here, I'd try the more unique fusiony offerings off their extensive menu.
